An important scene in the book "Wonder" is when the main character August (Auggie) is going to meet his new principal, at his new school, and take a tour. This scene is important because August is a kid that does not have a normal face and he has been homeschooled all of his life because he didn't want people to see his face. August kind of makes a scene because he was going to take a tour around the school campus with 3 kids from school, and 2 of the 3 kids are nice and the other one is mostly like a bully. The characteristcs that August shows are being shy and non-confident about his facebecause in the tour August always had his face faceing the ground. August is really shy when he meets the principale but he was also really nervous. August was also shy when he went on the tour with the 3 other kids. This part of the amazong story is at the rising action. "I was about to say something else, but then all of sudden I heard other voices outside the office: kids' voices. I'm not exaggerating when I say this, but my heart literally started beating like I'd just run the longest race in the world. The laughter I had inside just poured out of me." (20) "What's the deal with your face? I mean, were you in a fire or something? "Julian that is so rude!" said Charlotte. "I'm not being rude," said Julian, "I'm just asking a question, Mr. Tushman said we could ask questions if we wanted to." "Not rude questions like thst," said Charlotte. "Besides he was born like that. That's what Mr. Tushman said. You just weren't listening." "I was so listening!" said Julian. "I just thought maybe he was in a fire too." "Geez, Julian, said Jack. "Just shut up." I predict that people won't like August because of his face but will grow to like him as the year develops.
