The universal theme of the story is to do anything for your family even when you will get in conflicts for it. The universal theme is also change because the youngest of the Baudelaire children changed when she was with the villainous man, Count Olaf. Being in the clutches of Count Olaf has really changed Sunny because since she is the youngest they expect her to stay small but she has really grown and found her special talent when she was with Count Olaf. Even when Sunny was small she saw her mother cook and learned about the appearance of the food and looks can make you try something, so when Sunny had to cook dinner for the villains, she remembered the appearance no matter how good or bad it might be. This stories gate icon is contribution because the other Baudelaire children risked their lives for the youngest child and used their great minds to rescue Sunny from Count Olaf. Violet and Klaus also contributed by they risking everything for Sunny because they had to climb a steep, ice, cold waterfall where they could fall to their death so they could save their little sister. Sunny also contributed because she had to cook for the villains and volunteered to stay to spy on the villains so the villains could never be a hold of people houses, any children, their families, and their fortunes. Change happens in our lives because we would do anything for our families like the children did in this book, change also occurs when you have a difference to make in others peoples lives. Everyone contributes to other people's lives by simply caring for them and taking care of each other when you have almost nothing,. The Baudelaire children had nothing when they went to rescue their sister but they used their resources to help save her, this relates to our lives because we can use our resources to do something for someone else. The theme statement means to contribute a little of you to make someone else's life better and change because you can accomplish something better when you become more mature. According to page 227 and 228, it states,”I’m not a baby,” Sunny said, and hugged her. It was the longest sentence the youngest Baudelaire had ever said, and as Violet looked down at her sister, she saw how true it was. Sunny was not really a baby, not anymore. She was a young girl with unusually sharp teeth, some impressive cooking skills, and an opportunity to spy on a group of villains and discover a piece of crucial information. Sometime, during the unfortunate events that had befallen the three orphans, Sunny had grown out of her babyhood, and although it made Violet a bit sad to think about it, it made her proud, too, and she gave her sister smile.” This relates to change because Sunny went from being a little baby to growing up and doing amazing things, like cooking, and showing her skills.
